Feedback from dog owners Jill Thorpe has helped

John has been training with Jill for some time with Gus our 3 year old golden retriever. Although happy in water he often is reluctant to go out of his depth. We recently attended our 2nd water workshop I went in with my waders to coax Gus into the deeper water. Well that was all it took. Jill is such a good trainer so calm she watches everything and knows just what is needed to boost confidence. To see Gus swimming across the lake to retrieve a dummy was amazing. Watching John and Gus working together as a team was a joy. Thank you Jill

Jill has helped me train my 2 year old, wayward rescue Lab, Milo. We got him in March this year with very little training in his CV. He’s very quick to learn, right and wrong, and Jill has always been very patient with him and me so our progress has been amazing. Jill has given us the right positive reinforcement training and Milo gained his Grade 1 Gundog Assessment in 6 months of me taking him on. Thanks Jill, keep those dummy’s flying high!

Jill is just amazing! I’ve been to a few of her workshops with my spaniels and completed her puppy course with my youngest. I learnt so much and Jill is just so supportive and is always able to help and offer suggestions no matter what I’ve struggled with. It’s such a welcoming, supportive atmosphere and she makes it really fun too, just as training should be!

Jill is a wonderful trainer and great teacher. Her positive approach and in depth knowledge of all Gun Dog breeds as well as dog training ,help you to get the best from your relationship with your dog. Hector has made some great progress in classes and 121s. I’m really looking forward to continuing in the next course.

 An invaluable opportunity to look in depth at the various retrieves we have practiced and to understand how and why they differ.  The beautiful location and thoughtful way that each scenario had been set up really brought the exercises to life and gave us a taste of how it will feel in the field. 

Jill is an inspirational trainer who is constantly encouraging and eager to share her impressive understanding. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wishes to get the most out of their gundog.

Having recently been on Jill’s workshop for Marks, Memories and Blinds I had a really great day. Jill is an amazing, and a very patient teacher with so much knowledge to share with us, making sure that dogs and handlers always succeeded. 

I was impressed with her incredible ability to come up with lots of different ways to train the dogs and build confidence in me and my young gundog. I will definitely book on her next course. 

If you are looking for a gun dog trainer, Ivy, my husband and I would highly recommend Jill Thorpe at Develop Your Dog. Ivy and I have learnt so much since we started working with Jill. From basic manners, distraction, steadiness, recall and commands all the way through to blind retrieves, cold game and Ivy’s first time out on a shoot in December. It has been amazing to see my little pocket rocket thrive in the job she was bred to do.

Please do not be misled into thinking that Jill Thorpe at Develop Your Dog, is only suitable for people who want to take their dogs on a shoot or enter gun dog trials. I have a very cheeky working cocker, who is fundamentally the family pet. We had tried traditional puppy classes held in a village hall but they really weren’t stimulating enough for either of us and failed to address his challenging behaviours.

Jill has helped me to understand why Frankie does what he does and addresses our issues with activities that are broken down into manageable stages and allow us to have fun. Jill’s enthusiasm for her work and commitment to force free, positive training is so apparent in her love for the dogs. She’s very patient with the owners too! I fully recommend Develop your Dog to anyone wanting help training any dog. I’m so glad we found Jill and can’t imagine what we’d have done without her!

We are now more confident on walks as we know how to deal with her. We are no longer avoiding people when out but are actually looking for people to walk past. Sasha has responded well to the training techniques Jill has shown us and we are continuing to follow what Jill has taught us. The changes in Sasha are visible inside and outside the house.

I am so pleased to have found Jill as a gundog trainer. Her approach and teaching style is fantastic and would highly recommend her to anyone. Flora and I have been going to Jill’s classes for nearly a year and are seeing the benefits. The exercises are built up in a fun and entertaining way allowing to you to build a strong and engaging relationship with your dog. It is so rewarding to see Flora progress to what she has been bred to do. We are loving the online training were now following. Having access to training videos set by Jill and then videoing your own exercises and submitting for feedback has been a welcomed and fun approach.

Since working with Jill I have seen amazing advances in my dog’s behaviour and ability to perform exercises which I never thought we could achieve. It is down to Jill’s incredible knowledge and never ending patience. She is such a friendly and encouraging lady. We both thoroughly enjoy our sessions and look forward to continuing for a very long time to come. I would highly recommend her to others.

I adopted Molly as a 7 month old out of control labrador border collie cross with no self control. Her people surrendered her because they couldn’t do anything with her. With Jill’s help she has turned into a lovely dog who loves her training sessions, especially retrieving and now exercises great self control. I was so surprised at how quickly having something to focus on helped make Molly into a lovely dog. We are looking forward to taking our Gundog Club grade 2 test soon.
